A few months back I ordered an upper receiver and matched barrel and bolt in 6.5 Grendel. The rifle was completed shortly after delivery. I have had several range sessions with the rifle at the PD's range and couldn't be happier with the results. What you should know is that I am NOT a rifle marksman by any stretch of the imagination. I have always had trouble with precision shooting primarily because magnified optics screw with my vision. Medium range has always been my focus and using red-dots or aperture sights was always my self-imposed limit.

I own a handful of bolt-action rifles, including one in .264 Win Mag (I'm familiar with the 6.5mm caliber's history for accuracy) which is one reason I was curious about the Grendel. But, bolt-actions always left me cold and my success with them has been marginal. Mostly because of my attitude. After shooting the Grendel however I am a lot more interested in learning proper scope set-up and other skills that I have neglected over the years. The cartridge is amazing. I'm presently using both the Wolf Gold ammo and the Hornady 123 grn loads and have been impressed with both. I fit an AR platform much better than a bolt gun and the Grendel seems a perfect match. Recoil is almost a non-issue despite the huge leap in power compared to the 5.56mm I usually shoot. The accuracy however beats the hell out of it.

I mounted a Leupold 3.5-9x40mm scope that was originally purchased by my father. It's always been an amazing scope and I now feel like I have a rifle worthy of it. The Grendel shoots near one-hole all day long with the Hornady and considering my lack-luster abilities with a scope, that's nuts! Since I purchased this rifle I've made several other purchases to augment the rifle and to further my education in utilizing a scoped rifle. I almost feel like I'm trying to earn the cartridge's respect.

I owe you guys a huge debt. I've always been the pistol marksman in the family and my father the rifleman. Now, we have a lot more to talk about at the range and the reloading bench. Hell, my father was so impressed with the Grendel that he's even warmed up to the AR platform and he's always hated it.

Again, thank you.
